Enhancing victim safety and increasing offender accountability are two of the many issues for consideration when officers answer domestic violence calls. Historically, domestic violence calls rank among the most dangerous for responding officers. This program is designed to familiarize officers with the challenges they face in domestic violence situations.
Course topics include: Dynamics of Abusive Relationships; Officer Safety Concerns; Interviews of Victims, Suspects, Children and Other Witnesses; Reporting; and Probable Cause Leading to Arrest and Successful Conviction. The course will explore proper evidence collection and documentation, as well as civil orders of protection. This course is designed for all certified law enforcement officers.

• Class hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
• This class earns credits in our Degree Program.
