Internal Affairs Investigations
This training course is designed to train new and experienced investigators and supervisors tasked with conducting integrity and internal investigations involving law enforcement personnel. Those who attend this course will learn the methods of identifying the red flags indicating corruption, discerning the difference between corruption and non-corruption, identifying problem officers and risky assignments, and conducting fair and thorough investigations. This course will also expose how to identify people who unfairly target law enforcement officers. Topics covered in this course: the dynamics and importance of internal investigations; recognizing potential corruption problems; the necessity of strict confidentiality; Seven-Five: The Michael Dowd Investigation; Interviewing witnesses; legal issues at work; protecting the rights of officers; integrity testing and other proactive investigations techniques.
