Street Survival: Casualty Care
Good safety measures are essential for law enforcement professionals; however, it is equally important that officers learn skills that may help save their lives in the line of duty, or the life of another. This three-hour block of instruction will provide an overview and justification for Self Aid/Buddy Aid programs and training. Participants will review the history and science behind the development of safety programs, review case studies, and learn key components needed in safety kits. At the conclusion of this course, participants will be able to render a number of safety techniques in potentially life threating situations. This course is recommend for all law certified enforcement officers.
Hour One Self-Aid/Buddy-Aid overview
Justifications and needs for program and training
History and science behind the development of SABA programs
Case studies of successful use of SABA techniques/equipment
Hour Two Key components of SABA kits (equipment)
Hands-on familiarization with kit equipment listed above
Hour Three Introduction to Officer drags, pulls, carries
Hands-on tourniquet drills
Hands-on drags, pulls and carries
