What are the subscription rates?
The subscription rate structure is based on an average 3 years of attendance and an average of $25 per attendance. This also includes registration for all distinguished programs.
INDIVIDUAL OFFICER RATE:
Who can participate in the CJI subscription program?
Agency and individual subscriptions are only available to Arkansas law enforcement agencies and personnel.
Will the subscription cover sworn and non-sworn employees?
With a subscription, agencies can send any of their personnel to a CJI class that is appropriate within the scope of their employment, including sworn officers, non-sworn personnel, jailers, civilians, etc. If the attendee is not a sworn officer, they will need to provide current proof of employment with the law enforcement agency.
Will any CJI classes be available at no cost?
We will continue to offer some of our grant-funded classes at no cost. These include:
Sexual Assault online classes
Animal Fighting/Animal Cruelty Investigations ONLINE
Meth online classes
School Safety classes
Crime Scene First Responder ONLINE
PDMP Investigator Certification ONLINE
Drug Endangered Children Awareness ONLINE
Traffic Safety classes
What if I need to cancel?
We request a 2-week notice if you need to cancel your attendance in a class. However, we will allow for emergency cancellations.
If you are unable to attend a course for which you have registered, please contact the Institute as soon as possible at (501) 570-8000 to ensure proper notification can be given to officers on our waiting list. In many instances, courses offered by the Criminal Justice Institute fill to capacity. When this happens, officers who are not admitted to the course are placed on a waiting list to be notified if vacancies become available. By contacting the Institute in advance when you are unable to attend a course, CJI staff can ensure that those on the waiting list are given the opportunity to participate.
If I have to cancel attendance in an individual class, can I receive a refund?
If you meet the cancellation requirements noted above, your subscription rate will not be impacted. Likewise, if you paid as an individual, a credit will be extended towards another class taken during the calendar year. However, officers who do not cancel will not be issued a credit.
Will "no shows" impact our subscription rate?
Yes. Officers who do not cancel prior to the first day of class will have their attendance for that class included in the agency's overall total for the year.
In 2016, approximately 3,000 officers did not show up for their registered classes and did not contact CJI in advance to cancel. "No shows" impact CJI, CJI's staff, and officers throughout the State. In addition to the staff time it requires to register an officer in a class, "no shows" can result in classes being delivered with a lower attendance than anticipated - classes that could have been filled with officers on the waiting list.
What time period will a subscription cover?
Subscriptions will cover a calendar year, January 1 to December 31. Subscriptions will need to be renewed on an annual basis.
Will our agency receive a renewal notification when the subscription expires?
Yes. Each fall, the Criminal Justice Institute will send agencies an updated invoice reflecting a subscription rate based on their average attendance over the past three-year period.
When should an agency pay its annual subscription rate?
Upon receipt of the updated invoice, a subscription can be paid at any time prior to the end of January.
What are the payment options?
Payments can be made by check. Checks should be mailed to:
Criminal Justice Institute
Attn: Amber Jackson
26 Corporate Hill Drive
Little Rock, AR 72205
Credit Card payments are also accepted by contacting Amber Jackson at 501-570-8024 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Can an agency change its subscription?
Once the subscription rate is paid, CJI will not be able to issue refunds for class slots that are not used in the course of the year.
Are individual subscriptions available to officers whose departments do not subscribe?
Yes. An individual officer can elect to pay for each class individually at a rate of $25 per class or can purchase an individual subscription for $125, which provides the individual unlimited access to CJI classes for the calendar year. Payment options are the same as for a subscription - check or credit card.
Individual subscribers must fax or email a scanned copy of a signed and dated verification letter on agency letterhead prior to payment of the individual enrollment or subscription rate to 501-570-1465 or email@example.com, which includes the following statement:
This letter will verify that I, (name of registrant), am an employee of (agency name) and hold the position of (sworn/non-sworn) (position title), located at (address), am requesting an individual enrollment or subscription to CJI classes. My email address is (________) and phone number is (XXX) XXX-XXXX.
Will scholarships be available?
For agencies who cannot afford a subscription, scholarship opportunities will be available. Scholarships are only available to agencies. More information about scholarships can be found on the Scholarships page.
